Contact speakers are attached to a column of inflated balloons. Each speaker plays a soundtrack consisting of recordings of every US senator’s office answering machine message (as of May 2006). The many voices, all speaking at once, produce a confusing and jumbled sound. Balloons are not replaced during the run of the show. As the balloons deflate the sound they produce becomes fainter and less audible.
